We are about to say goodbye to 2024 and it was a year that was filled with a lot of ups and downs.
We were able to cross many things off our travel bucket list in 2024 and for that we are grateful. We’re especially grateful that we got to do our first travel experience in Asia and went to Japan with some friends. We also got to return to Spain, which we’ve been wanting to do since we first visited in 2018.
It was a good year for travel and we can’t wait to see what adventures 2025 brings.
It’s time to welcome a new year and with that often comes New Year’s Resolutions. We just happen to frame some of ours around travel!
Here are five travel resolutions we’re setting for 2025.
Let deals dictate where and when we go
This year we’ll probably focus on doing smaller trips that will be more affordable. To meet that end we’ll be more flexible and use discount sites to tell us where we can get the best travel deal instead of starting with the destination in mind first.
Not only will this help us save on our adventures but will open the door to places we might not have thought of before. It could be fun to be a bit more spontaneous and let the savings tell us where we can and should go.
Use points to save on getaways
Another way we can save on our 2025 adventures is by using the credit card points we’ve been saving up this year. We can use our saved points to offset the costs of flights or even pay for our hotel stays. One of our credit cards also reimburses $300 worth of travel purchases so we’ll make sure we get the most out of that perk!
Visit one new travel destination
In 2024 our new travel destination was Japan, and we had a blast. Not sure we’ll be able to do a big trip like Japan this year, but we still have the whole year ahead so who knows what we’ll be able to do!
But, we’ll still want to visit a new travel destination, whether it’s a new city, state, or country.
Cook our favorite dishes
This was a resolution we set last year and we had good intentions but only a little bit of follow-through. We’ll resolve to be better with this one this year and schedule themed date nights where we can recreate our favorite Italian, French, Spanish, Irish, and Japanese dishes – plus tasty dinners from other travel destinations.
Be mindful of souvenirs
When we do travel this year, I want to be more mindful of what souvenirs we get. We’ve started focusing on souvenirs that are useful, like dish towels, spoon rests, or wine stoppers, or food and drink souvenirs that we can consume instead of just cluttering up the house.
