15 must-have travel accessories

Looking for travel tech and accessories for an upcoming vacation? Here are a few of our favorite travel items to help make traveling easier, convenient, and more fun!

RFID safe wallet

The last thing you want to happen as you start your vacation is to have your credit card numbers or other sensitive data stolen. Get an RFID safe wallet or travel purse to block any attempts at stealing your information. Not only will it keep your credit cards safe, it’ll also keep you organized.

Charging case

Cell phones of today weren’t made like they were back in the day where you could toss them out the window, run them over with your car, and not have to charge them for at least a year. It seems like the second I open Facebook my battery is down to 10%. A charging smartphone case is a great solution while you’re out and about exploring without worrying about draining your battery.

Another great tip is while overseas if you haven’t bought an international plan or international SIM card, just put your phone into airplane mode to save your battery for long stretches of time.

Portable chargers or power bank

Keep your electronics charged up – especially on long drives or flights – with a portable charger or power bank.

Bose headphonesNoise cancelling headphones

Enjoy your own music, TV show, or movie without unnecessary background plane noise. Rick has a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort and I opted for a smaller set of noise cancelling earbuds by MAXROCK. Rick’s works wonderfully at canceling out noise and mine work OK, the sound is great but I wouldn’t say it eliminates all background noise – I can still hear people at work, so it’s really up to you if you’re comfortable packing something bigger or want to maximize your luggage space but get some background noise.

Collapsible water bottle

A collapsible water bottle is a great investment for any vacation. You can stay hydrated and the more you drink, the less room it takes up in your bag. When you’re not using it, it flattens up real nice and can even roll up to reduce the space it takes further.

Wine travel case

If you also love wine and are traveling to Napa Valley or all the way to Italy, these wine skin cases are great! There are other styles out there but these ones work really well as they don’t get too bulky or big but still keep your wine protected.

Don’t tell me that a wine case isn’t a must-have travel accessory!

Travel scarf

Want your passport, some cash, or your phone handy? Keep it in a hidden pocket in a travel scarf! Scarves are already great for travel as they add a pop of color to your wardrobe, can be used as a covering in religious buildings, and now can be used as easy access storage during your flight.

Beach, picnic, hiking foldable blanket

Planning on hitting the beach or having a romantic picnic on your getaway? Bring a comfortable blanket without using up too much space in your suitcase!

Trtl travel pillowTravel pillow

I fall asleep as soon as I’m in my seat on the plane (or in the car) but Rick unfortunately can’t fall asleep as easily while traveling. He got this awesome trtl pillow for Christmas and is very excited about trying it out this summer as we fly overnight to Europe.

Camera lens

Smartphone cameras today are so advanced that they take some amazing photos but sometimes their capabilities are still lacking. I love looking out at Denver’s skyline with the mountains in the background but the second I take out my phone to snap a photo of it, it looks freaking awful and the mountains look teeny tiny. An easy solution to this is to buy some small, phone camera lenses so you can get bigger, better images of your travels.

Changeable shoes

Have two pairs of sandals that are very, very similar but just different enough to warrant packing both of them? Stop that and get some changeable sandals, like these by Cambiami (literally “change me” in Italian). You get the basic sandal and then can buy whatever straps you want to mix and match your shoes to different outfits without wasting space in your luggage for an extra pair of shoes.

Wrinkle release spray

Can’t open your bags and unpack right away? Don’t worry about your clothes being too wrinkled by the time you can get them unpacked by taking along some wrinkle release spray.

Compression socks

Sexy, I know; but, they really can make a difference for your legs while you’re sitting for long stretches of time.

Hydrating lotion

carry-on cocktail kit

You know it’s important to stay hydrated as you travel but that also should include your skin! Pack a little refresher kit in your bag with lotion, face wipes, or even a hydrating face mask for your beauty sleep on your flight.

Cocktail kit

Any occasion should be a celebration and that’s especially true when you’re off on a getaway! Have some fun on your flight with these cocktail kits and welcome your next adventure or take some of the edge off of flying.
