Since we’re in the mood to share all things Barcelona, I wanted to share a bit of Barcelona that can be found in our home city of Denver! We were actually introduced to this place by our wedding planner and we haven’t been able to get enough of it since! Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant in RiNo (River North) is a must-visit if you’re craving quality international food in Denver!
Wine
With more than 40 wines available by the glass, it’s easy to find a vino you’ll like on the menu. Obviously they specialize in Spanish wines, from cava to rioja, but they also have a great selection from Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, and the United States. If you can think of a popular wine region around the world, chances are they have a bottle from there!
Some of our favorite wines there include:
- BarCava, brut
- Bodegas Olarra, rioja
- Finca de la Rica, rioja
- Torro tempranillo (Flores de Cereza)
Too overwhelmed by the wine? Pretend you’re in Spain and go with a pitcher of sangria!
Food
Whether you want to go light with charcuterie and cheese and tapas or dig into their delicious paella. They have amazing cheeses from Spain, that are perfectly paired with ham and sausages on the charcuterie menu. Go for the drunken goat (wine-soaked cheese), a classic like the six-month aged Manchego, or the whipped truffle sheep’s cheese! We pair our cheese with a classic jamon serrano.
For tapas, we love the:
- Pan con tomate
- Patatas bravas
- Jamon and manchego croquetas
- Hanger steak
- Bacon-wrapped dates
- Crispy calamari
- Albondigas
For paella, we opt for their seafood dish, paella mariscos, complete with clams, squid, shrimp, and mussels. It’s $24.50 per person and you need two or more people to order a paella dish.
Service
Every server we’ve had has been friendly and knowledgeable about what wines we should try and what foods would go well with said wines. Service was fast, our food was hot, and our wine glasses never went empty until we wanted them to.

Seating
The interior is pretty spacious and has a great wrap-around bar if you just want some vino and small plates, but we definitely recommend going spring through fall to enjoy their outdoor patio! There’s not much for views, but the warm weather and cool breeze are a nice complement to your meal.
Price
For the quality of the food, we think it’s fairly priced and how much you spend depends on how much you order. Tapas start at $4.50 per plate and go up to $14.50 for the venison and seafood tapas. Cheeses start at $6.50 for one or $17.50 for three selections – this pricing includes the meats too.
It’s best for dining with friends so you can all share a variety of meats, cheeses, and tapas, or all go in on a paella together. My parents really enjoyed their time in Barcelona, so we’re excited to take them to this restaurant this summer to relive memories of eating small bites of decadent food.
