Review: Le Saint Pierre Auberge

Hotel exterior

We recently went to Quebec City with my family and it was really neat seeing this mini Europe up in Canada! We got lucky that our family paid for the trip and thus booked us in a pretty sweet hotel!

My family booked our stay at the four-star Le Saint Pierre Auberge and it was a wonderful hotel.

We really enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone heading to Quebec City. If you’re curious about this hotel, check out our review below to see if it’s the right accommodation for your getaway.

Room at Le Saint Pierre Auberge

Accommodations

We were booked in a Superior Room so we had a sitting area with a couch, a coffee maker, and a desk, a bathroom with a walk-in shower, a Queen-sized bed, a mini fridge, and safe for our valuables.

It was spacious and well-furnished and the bedding was so cozy! The only thing I wish had been better was the pillows as it was either a super stuffed pillow or a pancake.

We also had a view of the street below but no major landmarks, but that’s okay as we were just there to sleep, have breakfast, and maybe a late night glass of wine!

I also liked that the hotel had a refillable water station and our room had a pitcher we could fill up when we needed filtered water. It was great having fresh water but knowing we weren’t wasting plastic bottles.

Wi-Fi was included in our room rate and it was quite speedy. I needed it for my connection but Rick was covered by his international plan.

Amenities

The hotel had several fantastic amenities, though some we didn’t have time to enjoy personally.

Wine

With our stay, we had access to the on-site wine dispensers. You get a key card that’s tied to your credit card and select the size of pour you want. I made sure to make use of this several nights to try some Canadian wine, or at least some really good French wine!

Common areas

The hotel also had some common areas that were quite cozy. There was one in the library, a nook near the breakfast spread, and a dining area/reading area on the way to the elevators.

Gym

The hotel does have a gym, but with all the walking we were doing just for our sightseeing we never actually made it there to use it.

Breakfast

Breakfast spread

Breakfast was included in our room rate as we booked directly with the hotel. It was served from 7-10 a.m. weekdays and 7:30-10:30 a.m. on the weekends.

It was a buffet spread with breads, croissants, and yummy pain au chocolats, French yogurt, fresh fruit, dry cereals, cold cuts and cheeses, and hard-boiled eggs. There were also a variety of juices and coffee to go with your breakfast.

Restaurant

There was a connected restaurant, Il Matto, but we never had the opportunity to dine there. Given how packed it always was, it must have been good!

We did buy a bottle of wine from the bar one night and it was quite excellent.

Check-in & customer service

Check-in and check-out was very easy and everyone we met that worked at the hotel was polite and professional. They were able to help us with our transportation back to the airport, and provided to-go boxes for breakfast as we had an early departure.

Housekeeping

Our room was tended to every day and the housekeeping staff took excellent care of our room. Our room was clean, had everything we needed, and was always serviced during the day when we were out and about. It may have helped that we were on the first floor!

Price

My family was able to get a discounted rate so our room charge was $224.10 (CAD) per night. We did get a package deal and it did include breakfast in our room rate.

At the time of this publishing, room rates are ranging from $375 to $425 per night.

Location

The hotel is located at 79, rue Saint-Pierre Québec, QC Canada G1K 4A3.

The location was fantastic for exploring the historic part of the city as it was about a five-minute walk from the funicular or the steps up to the Dufferin Terrace. We were surrounded by restaurants, shops, and galleries, and it was well-located for all the activities we wanted to do. I think it was a one-minute walk to the Museum of Civilization!

Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the hotel and made use of many of its amenities. It was well-kept, inviting, and again, had a wonderful location for our time in the city. I would definitely stay there again!
